A new journey begins, another door opens to welcome new friends. The gates of the University of Civil Engineering – nicknamed the " 55 Giai Phong Slaughterhouse" – continue to welcome new recruits, fresh faces after a long period of studying and taking exams amidst the Covid pandemic.
Despite the hardships and difficulties of studying due to the pandemic, nothing could stop the determination and willpower of Nguyen Thanh Hiep, a young man born in 2002 from Thai Binh province, to strive for his dreams.
With an entrance exam score of 25.8, Thanh Hiep excelled, becoming one of the top three entrance exam scorers in 2020 for the Environmental Engineering Faculty - Engineering Systems in Construction major. The 65HKC4 family is where this young man nurtures his dreams and hopes for a future building structures as solid and robust as reinforced concrete.

1. Hello Thanh Hiep. First of all, congratulations to Nguyen Thanh Hiep for excellently passing the 2020 National High School Graduation Examination and becoming the valedictorian of the Engineering Systems major in the Faculty of Computer Science at the University of Civil Engineering. To begin today's interview, could you please greet our readers and introduce yourself briefly, as well as share your feelings about joining the FEE family?
First of all, I would like to extend my greetings to all readers and express my gratitude for your interest. My name is Nguyen Thanh Hiep, from Thai Binh province. I am currently a student in class 65HKC4 - Engineering Systems in Construction - Faculty of Environmental Engineering, University of Civil Engineering. I am feeling joyful and happy to be a part of the FEE family.
2. Surely, to achieve a score that many of your classmates admire, you must have gone through many difficulties. So, what are your thoughts? Could you share a little bit about your learning process with our readers?
I created a reasonable and scientific schedule. Every day, in class, I diligently listened to the teachers' lectures, took notes on important things, participated in group study sessions with friends, actively worked on assignments given by the teachers, searched online for assignments from other schools to practice, and most importantly, I relied on the support and encouragement from my family and relatives.
3. One of the things that readers are interested in is the profession that Thanh Hiep has chosen, so what has she done? When did the decision to choose the Engineering Systems Engineering major begin? What factors influence this decision? What was Thanh Hiep's choice?
At the beginning of my senior year of high school, I started researching universities and found the University of Construction really interesting, with things I loved. I've long been passionate about the construction industry and believe this profession is very necessary in today's world.
4. So, after knowing your scores, have you ever thought about changing your preferences?
After finding out my score, whether it's high or low, I still decided to stick with my initial choice. That's the dream and hope I've always wanted to build (laughs).
Indeed, the belief, passion, and enthusiasm of those who love their profession are truly unique. Nothing can defeat this intense struggle. So, what must it feel like to know that all that hard work has been rewarded? Let's find out how Thanh Hiep felt when he learned he was the valedictorian of the Engineering Systems in Construction major.
5. Can you share a little about your feelings upon learning that you were the top-scoring student in the entrance exam for your major?
Like everyone else, I was initially very surprised because I never thought I would become the valedictorian. And then came a feeling of overwhelming happiness and joy, like I wanted to fly (laughs).
6. Through what information channels did Thanh Hiep learn about the Engineering Systems in Construction major at the University of Civil Engineering? What factors helped Thanh Hiep decide to study Engineering Systems in Construction at the University of Civil Engineering?
I heard about it from relatives, and I also checked websites and pages online, and especially from senior students who advised and helped me.
7. So, during your studies at your dream school, what are your goals for the future, Thanh Hiep? (Winning scholarships, participating in competitions, or striving for opportunities to exchange with a foreign school,...)
For me, studying to gain knowledge and experience, and then having a stable job is enough - there's no need to aim for anything too high or too far (laughs).
