Target :

The objective of this research project is to study methods and develop tools for calculating and evaluating carbon emissions of buildings using a whole-lifecycle approach, with the aim of supporting the assessment and certification of net-zero emissions buildings in Vietnam.

Main results : The project has been implemented and has achieved the following main results:

- Research the scientific and practical basis, and experiences of countries around the world related to calculating and evaluating carbon emissions from buildings using a whole-lifecycle approach.

- Research to develop methods, data collection forms, and tools for calculating and evaluating carbon emissions from buildings using a whole-lifecycle approach.

- Conduct research, surveys, collect information and data, and test the application of methods and tools for calculating and evaluating operational carbon emissions for two office buildings.

The method for assessing embodied carbon emissions and operational carbon emissions throughout the building's lifecycle is based on reference to standard EN 15978:2011 .

Practical application : The research results of this project contribute to providing a scientific basis and supporting the assessment and certification of net-zero emission buildings in Vietnam.
