Improving indoor air quality in buildings to minimize health impacts for sensitive populations in Vietnam.

Project Name: Improving indoor air quality in buildings to minimize health impacts for sensitive groups in Vietnam.

Chairperson : Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Duc Luong.

International partner : Ghent University, Belgium.

Implementation period : 2022 – 2024.

Funding agency : VLIR, Kingdom of Belgium.

Target :

The main objectives of the Project include conducting surveys and assessments of the concentration and emission sources of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in the indoor environment of several schools in Hanoi, and enhancing the scientific research capacity of members of the Clean Air Solutions Research Group (ReCAS) at Hanoi University of Civil Engineering in addressing indoor air quality issues in Vietnam through exchange and cooperation activities with partners at the EnVOC Research Group, Ghent University, Belgium.

Key Results : The project has been implemented and has achieved the following key results:

1. Develop research methods, conduct surveys, collect samples, and analyze VOCs in the indoor environment of several schools in Hanoi.

2. Conduct research exchange and collaboration activities between members of the Clean Air Solutions Research Group (ReCAS), Hanoi University of Civil Engineering, and the EnVOC Research Group, Ghent University.

3. Share and promote the results of collaborative research between the ReCAS Research Group, Hanoi University of Civil Engineering, and the EnVOC Research Group, Ghent University, Belgium, at domestic and international conferences and workshops to establish a collaborative network.

Practical application : Some of the project's research content and results have been used to develop materials and lectures for the course "Indoor Environmental Quality of Buildings" in the Engineering Systems in Buildings program, taught by the Microclimate Specialist, Faculty of Environmental Engineering, Hanoi University of Civil Engineering.
