Field Trip and Practical Experience for Students of the Environmental Engineering Faculty, Hanoi University of Civil Engineering

Students who completed the project: Class 65MTC

Instructor: Dr. Hoang Minh Giang

Environmental Engineering is one of the disciplines currently implementing training reforms based on the CDIO framework (C - Conceive, D - Design, I - Implement, O - Operate) to produce engineers with solid professional knowledge, proficient practice skills, and a positive work attitude to meet the increasingly high demands of society.
Field trips are part of the training program designed to help first-year students gain a clearer understanding of their chosen major, facilitate their learning and research, and especially allow them to interact and learn from lecturers. For environmental science majors, practical experience at factories and enterprises is essential, helping students grasp the real-world situation and better understand their field of study.

In January 2021, under the enthusiastic guidance of Master Hoang Minh Giang, the first-year students of class 65MTC had a valuable field trip to the Thang Long Water Treatment Plant. The trip allowed students to gain early exposure to the plant's operational processes. This involves immersing students in a real-world environment to see things in the most authentic way. At the same time, it provides opportunities for students to improve soft skills such as teamwork, note-taking, and quick information gathering.

- In addition, engineers at the industrial park also provide specific guidance on each piece of equipment and machinery, and how to read the factory's data.

Pay close attention to how the water flows in the reservoirs.

The entire class of 65MTC took a commemorative photo with Dr. Hoang Minh Giang, Ms. Tran Ngoc Minh, and the supervising engineers at the Thang Long Water Treatment Industrial Park.

The model products, recreated by first-year students based on real-life situations, are not only visually appealing but also 90% accurate. This is an opportunity for students to practice soft skills such as shorthand, observation, teamwork, report writing, and presentation skills.
