Despite being a girl, she decided to study engineering systems in construction because of her passion - Nguyen Phan My Anh.

“Along with the development of urbanization, the demand for amenities among people is increasing, and the technical systems inside buildings are receiving more attention and continuous improvement. The aviation industry is a place for in-depth training in this field, and it is also where I chose to fulfill my dream,” My Anh shared.

Nguyen Phan My Anh is a fourth-year student majoring in Engineering Systems in Construction.

First of all, BTT would like to thank My Anh for taking the time to share her stories with the lovely readers of the Faculty of Computer Science.

First, My Anh, please introduce yourself briefly so that our readers can get to know you better!

"Hello everyone, I'm Nguyen Phan My Anh, a student in class 63HK3 of the Environmental Engineering department. My classmates all call me YuL, Run, or Lun. I was born on May 5th, 2000, and I'm from Thanh Hoa, the hometown of Nem Chua (fermented pork sausage) <3"

When asked about her reasons for choosing the Engineering Systems major in construction, the lovely My Anh readily shared:

“Since I was a child, I’ve loved art and dreamed of drawing many beautiful houses when I grew up. My family encouraged me to study at a construction school. After careful consideration, I decided that Engineering Systems in Buildings (ES) would be my chosen field. With the increasing urbanization and growing demand for amenities, engineering systems within buildings are receiving more attention and continuous improvement. ES is the field that provides in-depth training in this area, and it’s where I’ve chosen to fulfill my dream.”

True to her word, My Anh has affirmed her passion and determination to pursue this path through her own achievements. Despite being petite, My Anh consistently ranks among the top students in the Information Technology and Communication major, and let's find out what her secret is!

"The learning methods at university are completely different from high school. Being a quiet and shy person, the new environment, new friends, and completely new learning methods made it quite difficult for me to adapt in such a short time. I learned from my professors and senior students, and interacted with many peers to improve my understanding and abilities. Besides that, I tried my best to study, participate in scientific research, and explore relevant materials to develop my knowledge and skills and achieve high results."

My Anh's achievements to date include the university's merit scholarships in years 1, 2, and 3; the Dakin scholarship... And her GPA is 3.44/4 (as of the first semester of year 4).

"These impressive achievements are thanks to hard work and planned, focused studying right from my first year," My Anh shared.

"As I mentioned above, learning from teachers and senior students is incredibly helpful. Those who came before us are always willing to share valuable experiences, allowing us to chart our own path. I create a daily schedule to organize my work and daily life as efficiently as possible. Additionally, we need to balance studying and working to avoid negatively impacting our health!"

My Anh still makes time to relax with her family.

As one of the individuals dubbed "Scholarship Hunters," My Anh doesn't hesitate to share some study and exam preparation tips to achieve excellent scores (the path to winning scholarships each semester).

"The field of study is truly difficult and requires a lot of knowledge, so you need to try very hard. Throughout your studies, you need to focus on listening to your teachers' lectures, taking notes on important parts, and thoroughly researching and understanding. Don't wait until the last minute to study because you won't understand much. Oh, and when you take the exam, remember to sit near the smart students so you can 'support' each other ^^ (it's a secret, you know, talent doesn't guarantee success in exams)."

Besides classroom learning, scientific research is the activity that My Anh loves and actively participates in the most. She shared that it brings about significant progress in both knowledge and soft skills.

“Scientific research not only strengthens and enhances knowledge but also contributes to developing important soft skills such as teamwork, independent thinking, and presentation skills... The most important thing I gained was practical experience and incredibly useful knowledge. Researching scientific topics with teachers and teammates was truly a wonderful experience.”

While she loves studying the most, My Anh also dedicates time to extracurricular activities and volunteering:

"I really enjoy studying, so I dedicate a portion of my time to it." I spend most of my time studying and researching. Therefore, I don't have much time for student activities. In my first year, I joined the Thanh Hoa Student Volunteer Team. Although I didn't regularly attend team meetings, I was always ready to help enthusiastically whenever anyone needed anything (like doing volunteer work behind the scenes).

As a senior student, what advice does My Anh have for the 2003 graduating class as they embark on their university journey?

Every journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

“I have a message for the K66 students: Don't shy away from opportunities, and don't study just for grades or to please your parents. Take advantage of teamwork, ask your classmates for help, and accumulate useful skills for your future career. Student life is the most precious time; focus on improving your abilities and expanding your network without worrying about the pressures of making a living. Therefore, if you want to be competitive and develop quickly after graduation, experiencing these things early and doing your best is essential and urgent. The satisfaction of achieving a goal will motivate you to continuously move forward and challenge yourself.

BTT would like to thank My Anh for taking the time to share her story. It has been a long journey filled with hard work and many beautiful memories. We wish My Anh continued beauty, unwavering enthusiasm, and success on her chosen path!
